Re Treaty Skinny 25mm 25/.04 NiTi Retreatment Endo Files – Glide Path and Gutta-Percha Removal (Pack of 5)
The Skinny (Skinn-Y) is the second instrument in the Re Treaty retreatment system, developed with Style Italiano Endodontics and made by Perfect Endo. It is a 25mm, 25/.04 silver NiTi file: the thinnest file in the kit, yet powerful for debris removal. It is used to remove gutta-percha in the middle and apical thirds of the root canal system, preserving the coronal region of the canal and creating a reproducible pathway close to the apical terminus (the glide path). This pack contains 5 Skinny files.
Retreatment cases are becoming more common than primary treatments, and Re Treaty was created as a dedicated kit for disassembling root fillings in a minimally invasive way. If you need the full sequence, you can order the complete Re Treaty kit here.

The Re Treaty Sequence
Re Treaty follows the Style Italiano Endodontics philosophy: first empty the root canal system in a crown-down approach, and once disassembly is complete, shape the canals conservatively. The full kit has five instruments in three different alloys:
| File | Size / taper | Alloy | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bully (Bull-Y) | 25/.07, 21mm | Gold heat treatment | Removes old coronal gutta-percha obturation material |
| Skinny (this product) | 25/.04, 25mm | Austenitic NiTi, no heat treatment | Removes gutta-percha in the middle and apical thirds and creates the glide path to the terminus |
| Shapy 1 | 20/.05 | Gold heat treatment | Conservative shaping to finalise the preparation |
| Shapy 2 | 25/.05 | Gold heat treatment | Shaping to finalise the preparation |
| Shapy 3 | 30/.05 | Blue heat treatment | Final shaping size adjustment |
After Skinny, a K-file is used with an electronic apex locator to determine the working length and confirm patency, passively negotiating it 0.5–1.0mm beyond the apical constriction, before the Shapy files are used for the final shaping. This pack contains the Skinny 25mm 25/.04 only, so you can restock the file you use most often.
Recommended Settings
- Speed: 350–500 rpm
- Torque: the manufacturer's information for the Re Treaty system gives 1.5 N·cm
- Check files frequently for distortion or wear, and follow the advised rpm and torque settings
- Please refer to the manufacturer's instructions for use before treatment
Pairs Well With
- Re Treaty Bully 21mm 25/.07, 5pk – removes coronal gutta-percha before Skinny

- Terauchi GP removal instruments – Gutta Percha Removal instrument
Who Is the Skinny File For?
The Skinny suits general dentists and endodontists who carry out non-surgical retreatment and want a thin, dedicated file for clearing gutta-percha from the middle and apical thirds and establishing a glide path, whether as part of the full Re Treaty sequence or as a replacement for the most frequently used file in the kit.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the Skinny file used for?
- The Skinny (Skinn-Y) is a 25mm, 25/.04 retreatment file used to remove gutta-percha in the middle and apical thirds of the root canal system and to create a reproducible glide path close to the apical terminus.
- What is the size and length of the Skinny?
- The Skinny is 25mm long, with a 25/.04 size and taper, made from a silver, austenitic NiTi alloy with no heat treatment.
- How is the Skinny different from the Bully?
- The Bully is a 21mm, 25/.07 gold heat-treated file used first to remove coronal gutta-percha. The Skinny is a longer, thinner 25/.04 file used afterwards to reach the middle and apical thirds and create the glide path.
- What speed should the Skinny be used at?
- The recommended speed is 350 to 500 rpm. The manufacturer's information for the Re Treaty system gives a torque of 1.5 N·cm.
- How many files are in a pack?
- This pack contains 5 Skinny files.
- What happens after the Skinny in the Re Treaty sequence?
- A K-file and an electronic apex locator are used to determine the working length and confirm patency, and then the Shapy 1, 2 and 3 files finalise the shaping.
- Where can I buy the complete Re Treaty kit?
- The complete kit is available from UK Dentistry at https://ukdentistry.co.uk/retreaty.
