NeoPUTTY® Bioactive Bioceramic Root & Pulp Treatment Putty by Avalon Biomed

NeoPUTTY Bioactive Bioceramic Putty by Avalon Biomed

NeoPUTTY® is a premixed bioactive bioceramic root and pulp treatment material developed by Avalon Biomed, recognised with the Dental Advisor 2022 Top MTA Product Award. It offers superior handling properties and promotes hydroxyapatite formation to support the natural healing process.

Its firm, non-tacky consistency, wash-out resistance and bioactivity make NeoPUTTY a preferred material for a wide range of pulp treatment needs. Supplied ready-to-use, it allows immediate placement with zero waste — saving both material cost and chair time.

Why Dentists Choose NeoPUTTY

  • Premixed, ready-to-use putty – no mixing required
  • Bioactive bioceramic chemistry promoting hydroxyapatite formation
  • Highest radiopacity in its class (8.1 mm Al equivalent)
  • 3-year shelf life with no dry out between uses
  • Firm, non-tacky, wash-out resistant consistency
  • Resin-free for maximum bioactivity and dimensional stability
  • Non-staining – will not discolour teeth
  • Zero waste, ready-to-use syringe delivery
  • Biocompatible, non-cytotoxic, non-genotoxic
  • Initially high alkaline pH supports an antimicrobial environment

Bioactive Bioceramic Technology

NeoPUTTY is a calcium and hydroxide ion-releasing bioceramic material. On contact with moisture present in vital and periradicular tissues, it promotes the formation of a hydroxyapatite layer at the material-tissue interface, supporting natural healing and sealing.

Its initially high alkaline pH creates an environment that has been shown to be antimicrobial in laboratory (in-vitro) testing, while its resin-free, dimensionally stable formulation minimises shrinkage and the risk of bacterial microleakage over time.

Indications

  • Direct pulp capping
  • Indirect pulp capping
  • Partial pulpotomy
  • Pulpotomy and apexogenesis
  • Root resorption
  • Root apexification
  • Cavity liner and base
  • Perforation repair
  • Obturation
  • Root-end filling

Detailed Features & Benefits

Bioactive Bioceramic

  • Promotes the formation of hydroxyapatite on the surface to seal and support healing through the release of calcium and hydroxide ions
  • Biocompatible, non-cytotoxic and non-genotoxic, with an initially high alkaline pH shown to be antimicrobial in-vitro

No Dry Out

  • NeoPUTTY delivers an ideal firm, low-tack consistency with no dry-out between uses
  • 3-year shelf life

Highest Radiopacity in Its Class

  • 8.1 mm Al equivalent — supports clear placement checks and follow-up radiographic assessment

Resin-Free

  • Dimensionally stable with no shrinkage, helping ensure a gap-free seal and minimising opportunity for bacterial infiltration
  • Resin-free formulation for maximum bioactivity

Non-Staining

  • Will not discolour teeth

Clinical Recognition & Research

NeoPUTTY received the Dental Advisor 2022 Top MTA Product Award, with clinical evaluators reporting it is easy to place and resistant to wash-out, with a consistency suited to immediate clinical use.

NeoPUTTY has also been used as part of a documented four-step "Bioactive Sandwich" obturation technique alongside NeoSEALER Flo bioceramic sealer, with case reports describing favourable healing outcomes at follow-up, including resolution of sinus tracts and osseous healing of periapical lesions.

Ongoing and completed clinical research includes randomised controlled trials evaluating premixed bioactive bioceramic MTA materials for vital pulpotomy in primary molars, comparing outcomes against established dressing agents such as formocresol, registered with ClinicalTrials.gov.
